SLOW FOOD

An adult’s small intestine is nearly 6m (20 ft) long, much longer than the large intestine, but it is only about 2.5 cm (1in) wide. Travelling at top speed, food normally moves through it at about 2m(6 ft) an hour- slower than a snail’s pace.
