SOUND THROUGH LIGHT

The soundtrack in movies is made by using a beam of light, which gets stronger or weaker depending on the signal sent to it from the microphone, thus making a pattern on the side of the film. When light is shone through this pattern onto a light sensitive cell in the projector, the sound gets played back.
