The Mughal Emperors started off well, worked hard to set up a good administration , and expanded their kingdom far and wide. The following generations though, were not so strong and kept changing the ruling pattern that drifted them away from their subjects and the hunger of power led to many divisions and more foes than friends. With the advent of European companies, the mighty empire slowly dwindled into history. The medieval period in the Indian subcontinent is not complete without the mention of some great and legendary proponents of Bhakti and Sufi Movements who contributed to the literature and culture of that time and left a rich legacy for generations to follow. History is replete with the contributions of Akbar, Noor Jahan, Shah Jahan, Aurangzeb, Tansen, Tulsidas, Ghalib, Mirabai, Kabir, SurDas and many more.
